TinyTERM for iOS has the capability to remap individual keys on its custom keyboards. The standard iOS keyboard cannot be remapped. Mapped keys may include text strings and other special keys.

Remap a Key

To remap a key on TinyTERM's on-screen keyboard, tap the keyboard button in the title bar, then select Remap Key. (Note that this option is not available if the Configuration Lock switch is turned on.) The Remap Key dialog opens.

Tap the Select Key button to bring up an image of the current main keyboard layout. You can tap the "Shift" or "Fn" button to select a key from one of those layouts as well. Selecting a key returns you to the Remap Key dialog with that key loaded.

Here both the Key Label and Key Value may be changed. The Key Value uses text strings or TinyTERM Unicode hexadecimal values.

Editing a key here changes it across all keyboard layouts. For example, remapping the F1 function key (as in this picture) will cause every instance of an on-screen F1 key to change to the new mapping. But it has no effect on Bluetooth or dock external keyboards.

The Key label accepts keyboard input, so long strings like "Login Screen" can be entered. It also accepts four-digit hexadecimal codes, in this case UTF-8 character codes. This allows the use of graphics on the keys. Those already used by TinyTERM Enterprise include:

To return the key to its default value, or to cancel mapping the key at all, simply tap the Reset button.

Key mappings are stored in the user.ttcodepage file. This file may be exported for sharing with other TinyTERM Enterprise users.
