Global Options

The Global Options button brings up a list of settings common to all TinyTERM connection configurations.

Add New Configuration brings up a new connection dialog.

About shows the product name and version, registration and license information, and the feature set enabled.

Licensing opens the Licensing dialog.

Debug Settings brings up a set of data logging options. These are normally used in conjunction with Technical Support to resolve TinyTERM issues.

You can Export Configurations via email. This creates a .ttconfig container file that includes all connection configurations, keyboard and code page customizations, and printer settings saved in TinyTERM.

To add passcode security to TinyTERM, turn on the Passcode Lock switch. This brings up the Enter Passcode dialog. Enter a four-digit number here. TinyTERM will request the passcode a second time to verify it, then return to the configuration screen.

Once a passcode is set, every time TinyTERM starts the Enter Passcode dialog will come up. It will also come up when switching to TinyTERM from another app.

You can also Require Passcode on switching to TinyTERM. The default value is "Immediately", which means TinyTERM will ask for the passcode every time it comes to the foreground: whenever it's started, when returning to TinyTERM from another app, or when the iPod has been in sleep mode. By setting a time value, a specified number of idle minutes must pass before the passcode is required again.

To disable the passcode, turn the switch off in the configuration screen. You'll be asked to enter the passcode once to confirm the change.

The Configuration Lock allows the user to disable the ability to add, delete or change connection configurations. This effectively locks down the current TinyTERM Enterprise settings. The Require Password option works the same way that Require Passcode does.

To use Rotation Lock, first turn the iPod to the preferred orientation for TinyTERM. Once that's correct, turn this switch on. Regardless of the iPod orientation after that, the TinyTERM display will not rotate.

Turning on Hide Title Bar removes the bar containing the Configure, keyboard and zoom buttons, as well as the connection name, from the main TinyTERM window. This increases the available screen space for the terminal.

To restore the title bar, tap the transparent down arrow in the upper right corner, just below the battery charge icon. If the arrow isn't visible due to the emulator's current colors, it will still work. This will pull down the title bar for three seconds, or until you tap one of the buttons.

When Idle Timeout is on, TinyTERM obeys the iPod auto lock setting. With this switch off, as long as TinyTERM is the foreground app, the iPod will not sleep. Instead the screen will stay on as long as TinyTERM is up.

The two keepalive settings are only available in TinyTERM Enterprise via direct sale. They help prevent TinyTERM from being disconnected in the background.

Sleep Keepalive tracks socket activity in iOS and wakes TinyTERM up when data is received. This can still fail if the iPod's system resources fall too low due to other apps or low battery.

Movement Keepalive senses the iPod's movement via GPS and other methods, and maintains the connection based on that. It's less likely to get disconnected due to system resources, but uses more battery power than Sleep Keepalive.
