This error comes up on Windows systems using HP printers. Some include the HP Printer Tool Box. If that’s running on your PC, it will interfere with TinyTERM’s printing. Close down the Tool Box to get rid of this error.

Using TinyTERM 3.2, when trying to print you may see “General error 1011” when TinyTERM is set to print to PRINTMNGR. If you print to DEVICE, you may get “Can’t append to LPT1:” instead.
When this happens, check for updates to your printer drivers. If one is not available, there is no other fix for these errors. We recommend you upgrade to a supported version of TinyTERM instead.

Using TinyTERM or TERM for DOS, the PC locks up when you send a print job. This will happen consistently if the printer is not ready for the job: offline, out of paper, powered down, etc. The only way to avoid this is to verify the printer is online and ready to print before sending a print job.

Using Century LPR on Windows 95, 98 or Me, if you run into a problem with an LPR printer port, you may want to delete it. You won’t be abled to if there are spooled files waiting to print, or if the port is being used by Windows.
To solve this problem, first cancel all print jobs for the printer:
- In LPR, select the printer window to make it active.
- Select the Printer status tab.
- Choose the Remote radio button.
- Click “Remove all.”
- Choose the Local radio button
- Click “Remove all.”
NOTE: Clicking “Remove all” only cancels your own print jobs.
At this point you should be able to delete the port:
- Select the printer screen or icon of the printer.
- Open the File menu.
- Delete the port.
- If this does not work, run the following commands on the UNIX system:
- lpstat -t to list all print jobs for the printer.
- cancel xxx, where xxx is the print job number.

Using the LPD server from TinyTERM Plus or TERM Professional 3.3 on Windows 95, print jobs over 8,000 bytes in size sent to Windows 95 are not printed. When this happens, check the host system and the PC. Does either have a Compex 10 Mbps network card? If so, replace the network card. You should not need to change any settings in the LPD software. Print jobs above 8,000 bytes should now print.

You may want to print the TERM or TinyTERM screen without going to the menus. In that case, you can remap a key to perform this function.
In TERM for UNIX, the F6 key is mapped to print by default. To change this, use the SETKEY script command. For example, to map printing to Shift-F6 instead, the command is:
SETKEY SF6 PRINT
In TinyTERM for DOS the Alt-P key prints the screen by default. To change this, type Alt-S for the Setup menu, then select Keyboard. Change the Print Screen line to the desired key.
There is no default key mapped to print screen in TERM for DOS. To change that, type Alt-K to get the keyboard settings. Change the Print Screen line there to the desired key.
TERM and TinyTERM for Windows require more steps:
- Open the keyboard editor.
- Click the Chart Open button.
- Click the F button in the upper right.
- Click and drag the word PRINT from the chart to the key you want to use; i.e., F8.
- Click the Chart Close button.
- Click the Set button.
- Click OK.
- Click the “Save As” button to give the new keyboard scheme a name. You can use an existing scheme name to replace it if you desire. But if you replace the “Default” scheme, there’s no way to restore it to its previous settings.
- Click on Apply and OK.

If you have applied the printing patch to TinyTERM 4.03 and now get a “TinyTERM mismatch” error, you probably have older versions of Tiny Term installed on the PC. To get rid of the error, do the following:
- Manually uninstall TinyTERM.
- Reboot your PC.
- Reinstall TinyTERM 4.03.
- Apply the printing patch again.

Using TinyTERM Plus or TERM Professional version 3.3.8 on Windows 95 or Windows 98, the marlpd32.exe program gives an error instead of printing. The error comes from multiple copies loading themselves into memory. To fix it, do the following:
- Right click on the hammer/wrench icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, next to the clock in the System Tray.
- Select Exit from the pop-up menu.
- Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and end all marlpd32.exe tasks listed.
- Drag and drop the marlpd32.exe program from the Century folder to the desktop.
- Launch LPD from that icon.

Using Tiny Term version 3.3 on Windows 98, the printer might lock up after printing three or four pages of a report. Once it locks up, you’ll have to end task TinyTERM to clear it.
To fix this, go to TinyTERM’s printer settings and check the box marked “Flush output buffer.” This will flush the printer buffer periodically, preventing the printer from locking up.

TinyTERM versions from 4.00 through 4.30 do not always save the printer selected by the user in Printer Setup. This bug is related to the way printers are indexed in Windows.
CR 416, fixed in TinyTERM 4.31
