TERM for Linux does not communicate through the Digi PortServer at all. It connects to the tty port generated, but there’s no response after that. The remote system doesn’t see anything you type in TERM, and TERM doesn’t echo anything back from the host.

Each key in the .tpx file is limited to 512 bytes in length. That includes the key name, the equals sign =, and the carriage return at the end of the line. So for example, the “node=” line is limited to 506 bytes of node information.
Century Software, Inc., has had a request to increase that limit. In particular, long lists of installed Windows printers can fill 512 bytes quickly.

Using Windows XP, SecureFT reads zip files as directories. Uploading a zip file causes a new directory to be created on the host, and the individual files in the zip are uploaded into that directory. This is directly related to XP’s ability to show the contents of a zip as a virtual directory.

Change the default dialog color in Windows. In TinyTERM, open the Session Properties and go to the Keyboard tab. Click the Edit button to bring up the keyboard map. Most of the keys shift to match the new dialog color. However, the background stays gray, as do the Ctrl, Shift and Alt keys.

TinyTERM is a 32-bit application. However, it will install properly on 64-bit versions of Windows. You do not need to do anything special to install TinyTERM in these environments.
To run TinyTERM on a 64-bit Windows system, 32-bit compatibility must be installed in the OS. This is automatic in Windows 7 and later versions. No changes need to be made for TinyTERM to work properly in those environments.
For 64-bit versions of Windows XP or Vista, after installing TinyTERM test it for functionality. If there are any errors, close TinyTERM. Right-click on the TinyTERM shortcut and select Properties from the popup menu. Go to the Compatibility tab. On that tab, select a 32-bit compatibility mode. The “Windows XP service pack 2” option generally works well. TinyTERM will run normally with that option.
Century Software, Inc., has had a request to compile TinyTERM as a 64-bit application for that environment. To date this has not been done.

SCO OpenServer 6 addresses serial ports with /dev/term/XX numbering. TERM for SCO UNIX’s callin and callout routines require /dev/ttyNN format instead. While SCO OpenServer 6 also provides that format for serial ports, it’s not their preferred method.

Install TinyTERM Web Server in Windows. Go to the directory C:\Program Files\Century\TinyTERM\ttwc and open the index.htm file there. Click on any of the four links on the left. If asked, open the file rather than saving it. TinyTERM opens in the browser as it should.
Click the Close button on the Ribbon Bar, or right-click the status button at the lower left and select Close from the pop-up menu. The window goes gray as it should. However, clicking any of the .tpx file links does not open the file. You have to close the browser, then open it again to open another .tpx file. The same thing happens in a true TinyTERM Web Server configuration.

When installing the network utilities (NetUtils) to Windows 98se or Windows Me, you get the error, “ATL.DLL missing, must install TinyTERM Plus.” It comes up immediately after the progress bar for starting the NetUtils setup hits 100%. Installing TinyTERM Plus in safe mode bypasses the problem in some cases.

When running TinyTERM 4.50 on Windows XP, non-administrator users get the error, “Error (4547) Method ‘Redraw’ called with invalid object instance,” followed by, “”Error (1808) Could not run CSL entry point: main.” Only administrator users could run the program.

When uninstalling TinyTERM Plus, you must also remove the “NetUtils” item in Add/Remove Programs to finish the uninstall. This removes the file msvbmvm60.dll from the PC as well.
If the file isn’t present when NetUtils (the network utilities part of TinyTERM Plus) is installed, NetUtils installs it. However, whether or not the file was present before, the uninstall removes it. This happens even if other installed programs rely on the file.
