Transfer to Non-Existent Directory Disconnects

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

If you use TERM for SCO UNIX to transfer a file to a directory that does not exist, TERM drops the connection.

CR 280

User-Selected Directory for Censoft.log

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

TinyTERM Web Server Client writes the file censoft.log to the directory specified by the Windows environment variable “windir.” System administrators sometimes lock users out of the C:\WINNT directory, the normal value for “windir,” for security reasons. This causes TinyTERM Web Server Client to generate errors when it tries to write to censoft.log.

Disable Splash Screen

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

You can disable the splash screen in TinyTERM 4.x with the -nosplash command-line parameter. Century Software, Inc., has received requests to make this available in the user interface as well. That has not been implemented thus far.

Multiple Copies of One .tpx in Browser

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

You can only open one copy of a given .tpx inside a web browser. To open multiple connections to a single host, you must open a different .tpx file for each connection. You cannot work around this by opening two browser windows, or two tabs in a single browser. You must open all .tpx files in a single browser window.

In addition, each .tpx file must have its own session name. To change that, go to TinyTERM’s File menu and select File Properties. The Session name is the first field listed.

Century Software, Inc., has been asked for a TinyTERM option that would remove the maximize, minimize and close buttons from the title bar. To date this has not been implemented.

Full Screen TinyTERM

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

From the View menu or the Preferences option on the Edit menu, most of the information in the TinyTERM 4.x window can be turned off. However, there is no way at present to turn off the title bar. So TinyTERM isn’t quite capable of displaying completely full screen, taking over the entire area. But it does come close.

TERM in Background Doesn’t Answer Modem

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

On a UNIX system, disable getty on a modem port. Then run a TERM script that does an answer wait on the modem. The script should continue to execute when someone dials into that modem.

When you run this script in the background using the ampersand character:

term modemscript.cmd &

the script never answers the modem, even if the script works properly run without the & switch. The TERM process runs, but it does not answer the modem.

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Century Software, Inc., has had a request to compile TERM for HP’s Tru64 UNIX. We have not done so thus far.

tttc.exe Asks for Reboot, but Doesn’t Complete Installation

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

When you use the file tttc.exe from the zipse directory on the TinyTERM 4.20 CD, it does start to run. Shortly after that you get the message, “Setup has detected some old dll files on your system. You must restart to continue installation.” After rebooting you get a “missing shortcut” error. The install never starts back up. If you manually restart the install, it does the same thing.

Error 1808 Within Citrix Client

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Connect to a Citrix terminal server using a Citrix client. If any application from Microsoft Office 2000 is open — for example, Outlook, Excel, or Word — TinyTERM will not open. Instead, it gives the error, “Could not run CSL entry point: main”. This was originally observed on Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 with Service Pack 2.

The error only occurs if one of the Office applications is running on the Citrix server. It does not happen if the Office application is running on the client PC.
