vi Fails in TVI950

Friday, April 20th, 2007

In TV1950 emulation, the vi editor does not go into insert mode properly. Instead, it goes into Replace mode.

Also, undo does not remove everything it should. It leaves text behind that should be removed.

Both these problems are fixed in TinyTERM 4.10.

Function Keys Fail in xterm

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Using TERM for Linux 6.2.5b, the function keys work properly at the console. However, if TERM is run through an xterm window in any window manager, the function keys fail. This is fixed in TERM 6.28.

Error Verifying Key on SSH 3.2 Daemon

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Connecting to a host running sshd version 3.2, TinyTERM Plus returns the error, “Error verifying key.” It works properly with older sshd daemons. This is fixed in TinyTERM Plus 4.30.

Televideo Emulations Don’t Display All Text

Friday, April 20th, 2007

TinyTERM versions 4.00-4.21 have a bug in the Televideo emulations — TVI912, TVI925 and TVI950 — that prevent them from displaying all text. It is most noticeable in screen-oriented applications such as menus. The bug is fixed in TinyTERM 4.30.

Wyse60 Won’t Scroll After Running vi

Friday, April 20th, 2007

After using vi or other full-screen applications, the Wyse60 emulation won’t scroll back. It doesn’t matter if you use the vertical scrollbar or the keyboard commands.

This is due to the way Wyse60 terminals work. Full-screen applications such as vi often put the terminal into a different screen page, which clears all memory of the previous screen page. Exiting the application sets the terminal back to screen page 0. Essentially, there’s nothing to scroll back to at that point.

Disabling screen pages in Wyse60 will cause problems with some applications. So no option to do so has been added to TinyTERM.

Data Capture Causes Line Feeds to Display Incorrectly

Friday, April 20th, 2007

This problem only occurs when capturing to a file in binary or ASCII mode. If you display text with bare line feeds, it does not show correctly until you refresh the screen. You can do that by minimizing TinyTERM, or by bringing up another application in front of TinyTERM. This was fixed in TinyTERM 4.30.

CR 394

Binary Capture Converts Bare LF to CR/LF

Friday, April 20th, 2007

A binary data capture that receives hex 0A (line feed) not preceded by hex 0D (carriage return) adds the CR just before the line feed. This should only happen in ASCII data captures. This was corrected in TinyTERM 4.40.

CR 387

Programmed Mouse Buttons Ignored by TN3270 and TN5250

Friday, April 20th, 2007

It is possible to program the mouse buttons in TinyTERM 4.x. However, the programming is ignored by the TN3270 and TN5250 emulations. This feature was added to those emulations in TinyTERM 4.30.

CR 380

SSH Encryption Methods Fail

Friday, April 20th, 2007

The SSH connection type allows you to choose from four encryption methods: None, DES, Blowfish and Triple DES. Only the latter two work in TinyTERM Plus versions prior to 4.30.

CR 356

Can’t Select Blinking Text

Friday, April 20th, 2007

When a portion of the text in the TinyTERM window is blinking, none of the text can be selected for long, even the non-blinking areas. You can select text initially, but as soon as something blinks, the selection disappears.

This was changed in TinyTERM 4.30. Selecting text temporarily disables the blink attribute until the selection is somehow canceled.
