When using TN5250 emulation, select the IBM 3477-FC terminal subtype. TinyTERM will not connect, though it will show that it is attempting to connect.

The standalone 5250 Keyboard Mapper is similar to the mapper in the standalone 3270 emulator. However, some of the keys are already mapped. In the PC Keyboard section, red keys are standard Windows keys. Black keys are already mapped to 5250 protocol keys. Yellow keys cannot be changed.
To the left of the tn5250 Keymap section is a Show Map button. This will give a more detailed list of the key abbreviations. It also allows you to change the keys in a list format, rather than a map format.
To map a PC Keyboard key, drag the desired key from the tn5250 Keymap section and drop it on the PC key you want configured. The new key mapping will display in black.
To save the mapping, exit 5250 emulation. The program will prompt you for a profile name. Save the profile. When starting 5250 emulation, select the desired profile to restore the keyboard mapping.

Configure TinyTERM Plus for TN5250 emulation. If you click the Setup button immediately, you get the TN5250 options. Clicking Setup a second time displays TN3270 options. If you save the session after this, the emulation is on TN3270 the next time you open TinyTERM.
This is not a consistent behavior. Sometimes the TN5250 setup options display every time, and saving doesn’t cause any changes. Setting TN5250 for IBM3477-FC (27×132) mode will reliably cause this problem.

The TN3270 and TN5250 emulations allow you to choose between block and underline cursors, with the option for the cursor to blink or not, just like other emulations in TinyTERM Plus. However, the cursor always blinks, regardless of which option is selected.

Changing the font used by TN3270 or TN5250 emulation can improve its readability. However, it doesn’t necessarily make the emulator look and feel like a standard terminal.
Century Software, Inc., has had a request to create a new font to change that. The font would be the default used by the TN3270 and TN5250 emulations, to make their displays look more like the IBM terminals they emulate.

If you set the Destructive Back Space option in TinyTERM, the Backspace key should erase characters as it moves the cursor. This does not work in Wyse60, TN3270 or TN5250.

Configure TinyTERM Plus for TN5250 or TN3270 emulation, then save the settings and exit. On your keyboard, turn NumLock on. When you start TinyTERM Plus, Num Lock shuts off. It also happens occasionally just by selecting either emulation.

In TinyTERM Plus’ Session Properties, set the terminal emulation to TN5250 and click the Apply button. Next, go to the Keyboard tab and click Edit. Click the Chart Open button. You get the 3270 keyboard chart. If you make changes and save the new mappings, it’s saved in the file keyboard.dat as a 3270 keyboard mapping.
This works properly in TinyTERM Plus 4.33 and earlier versions.

Unlike ASCII terminals, the PF keys on an IBM 3270 or 5250 terminal send coded network signals. Since they’re not composed of ASCII sequences, there’s no way to use the te.xmit() CScript command to send the appropriate key.
