CR 625, AIX

Cannot Read Remote Directory

Monday, April 30th, 2007

This error indicates that TinyTERM can’t get into the specified directory. This could be because the directory doesn’t exist, or because the user doesn’t have rights to access it.

Check the spelling of the directory and file name. Any typos will cause file transfer to fail.

Also check the username and password being used. If either is incorrect, or if the user doesn’t have rights to the directory in question, that will also cause file transfer to fail.

TinyTERM will also give this error if you try to download over 100 files using the FTP protocol. It will appear to transfer correctly at first, but will eventually fail. No files are actually transferred when this happens.

CR 623

Kermit Server Commands

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The Kermit file transfer protocol includes a server mode capability. Neither TinyTERM nor TERM recognizes this mode, so they can’t get files from it. They will send files to a Kermit server and receive files from a Kermit send. But neither will initiate a download from a Kermit server.

CR 622

IND$FILE Transfer Times Out

Monday, April 30th, 2007

When attempting to transfer files using the IND$FILE protocol, it times out with the error, “Remote host is not responding.” However, other IND$FILE clients can transfer files successfully to the same host.

YMODEM Fails in TERM for Linux

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Configure a file transfer using the YMODEM protocol. Connect to a Linux system running TERM. Use:

term -x server

to set the transfer up. You’ll get a handshake timeout.

DOS FTP Client Hangs After Multiple Connects

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Using Century Software’s DOS FTP client, connect to several FTP servers. Download a couple of files from each, then exit the FTP client after each connection and return to DOS. Around the 10th time you do this, the PC will hang. There is also an error on each quit or exit command:

run-time error R6001- null pointer assignment

CR 610

Remote TERMCRC Control Fails

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The file transfer option Remote TERMCRC control does not allow another system to connect to TinyTERM and transfer files using the TERMCRC protocol. Instead, it always ends on a handshake timeout.

CR 608

Get File for ASCII Data Capture

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Century Software, Inc., has received a request to modify the Get File functionality so that it can be used to capture ASCII data to a file. This would save the steps required for data capture. It has not been implemented thus far.

CR 548

WTERMCRC Slower Over Telnet Than Over rlogin

Friday, April 27th, 2007

In TERM for UNIX, WTERMCRC file transfers move much more quickly over an rlogin connection than they do over a telnet connection. The fastest file transfer protocol for TCP/IP connections is FTP, but that does not include the benefits that come from TERM-to-TERM transfers.

CR 518

List of Last Files Transferred

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The Send File dialog in TinyTERM does not store a list of files transferred. However, when you save a session after sending a file, TinyTERM does save that filename in the Send File dialog.

In contrast, the Get File dialog does save a list of files downloaded, under Source file to get. As with Send File, you must save the session after the transfer to save that data.

Century Software, Inc., has had a request for a drop-down list of files sent, similar to the one for files downloaded. That has not been implemented thus far.
