How you get rid of the Marathon Internet Services icon in the system tray depends on your version of Windows. Regardless of the version, after you follow the procedure, the icon won’t load at startup any more.
Windows 95, 98 or Me
- Right-click on Network Neighborhood.
- Select Properties.
- Select Century Internet Services.
- Select Properties.
- Select the Options tab.
- Uncheck the “Start Internet Services at Windows 95/98 startup” option.
- Click on Apply, then OK.
Windows NT, 2000, XP or Vista
- Click on Start, then Programs or All Programs, then Startup.
- Right-click the “CenLPDstatus.exe” icon.
- From the pop-up menu, select Delete.
For these operating systems, you’ll probably want to stop the CenLPD service as well:
- Open the Control Panel.
- In Classic View, open the Administrative Tools.
- Open the Services applet.
- Double-click CenLPD.
- Change the “Startup type” to Disabled.
- Click OK, then close the Control Panel.
This prevents CenLPD from loading, saving both memory space and processor time.
