Changing the font used by TN3270 or TN5250 emulation can improve its readability. However, it doesn’t necessarily make the emulator look and feel like a standard terminal.
Century Software, Inc., has had a request to create a new font to change that. The font would be the default used by the TN3270 and TN5250 emulations, to make their displays look more like the IBM terminals they emulate.

Century Software, Inc., has had a request for the capability to “invert” the background color, so as to not waste printer toner, during screen prints. Thus, even with a black background on the display, the characters will print on a white background.
This is not necessary when using the Print Screen option on TinyTERM’s File menu. That already prints black text on a white background, no matter how the colors are configured. This option would only apply to graphical screen prints in Windows.

TinyTERM does not pass on modem error messages received via TAPI. This makes it difficult to determine what’s happening when a modem connection fails. For example:
- Dial a known busy number. (It’s easiest to call the same line TinyTERM is using to dial.) You can hear the modem dial and get a busy signal, but TinyTERM displays no errors. It shows as disconnected the whole time, though a “busy” message should pop up.
- Dial a line and don’t answer it. You’ll hear the modem dial and the line ringing. TinyTERM shows as disconnected until it hangs up. The expected “no answer” message doesn’t come up.

If the available disk space fills up, Century LPD loses print jobs. The jobs keep coming even if there’s no temporary disk space to store them, so they’re lost.

Century Software, Inc., has had a request to have TinyTERM draw its login information from Microsoft Active Directory. This would allow a single sign-on for the user’s PC, the Windows network and any UNIX or Linux systems.

The EHLLAPI.HLP file contains the following information:
A HLLAPI kit is available on our FTP site (ftp.FrontierTech.com), and the README with the kit describes any discrepancies between WinHLLAPI and Frontier Technologies’ HLLAPI. The name of the kit is HLLAPI.ZIP.
The specified file does not exist. That text should be removed entirely.

Some terminals put a display indicator in the window when they’re waiting for a system operation. A common one is an X at the bottom, below the main text portion of the screen. Century Software, Inc., has received a request to add this capability.

Connect TinyTERM to a UNIX system running FacetTerm. As soon as you type Ctrl-W2 to go to the second window, the display scrambles. The display may show some CScript or TinyTERM source code. A page setup window may also come up. The only way out is to kill the session on the UNIX server.

TinyTERM supports up to nine open sessions in a single browser window, the same as if it’s run standalone. However, open anywhere from four to six sessions in a single browser. Sooner or later, one of the sessions will not show up in the Session Bar at the bottom. Instead, if you click the browser’s Back button, then Forward again, the session will come up by itself. Using Back again will sometimes take you to the other open sessions, sometimes to a blank page.
Also, sometimes opening more than one session causes a .tpx file to bring up a blank page. If you click the link again, it opens properly.
