Creating a new configuration is quick and easy in TinyTERM ITX 3270 for iPad. To get started,
select Add New Configuration or touch the plus sign next to
the Configurations title.
(Debug Settings are normally used only when working
with technical support. Export Settings is discussed
as part of syncing files. The Passcode is discussed under
Using TinyTERM ITX 3270 for iPad.
And Online Documentation takes you to this documentation.)

At this point you'll need the connection specifics. At a minimum, you need the
Hostname or IP address of the server, and the communications Protocol
and Emulation the server requires.
There are no generic settings that will work for these options. Each is specific
to a given server, as determined by the server administrator.

Configuration Name
Once you have the necessary information, enter a Name that describes the connection. This is how you'll identify
the particular configuration in the list of connections.
Connection
Enter the Hostname, then
select the Protocol. The default Port is determined by the Protocol: 23 for telnet,
993 for STARTTLS or SSL/TLS.
On some systems, these values are different as an added security measure. In
that case, you'll need to enter the correct Port as well.
The Username and Password are used only when Auto Login is
enabled. The Password is automatically hidden when entered.
When Auto Login is turned on, you can select the Auto Login Macro
from a list of existing macros. Macro creation and definition is described in its
own online user guide.
With Auto Connect turned on, this configuration will be opened and connect
automatically when TinyTERM first starts. With Auto Connect turned off, the
configuration must be selected after starting TinyTERM before it can be connected.
Turning on Auto Reconnect will cause this configuration to connect to
the host again immediately after it is disconnected. This will happen no matter what the
source of the disconnect was: logging out, a connection timeout, using TinyTERM's
Disconnect button, etc.
Prevent Disconnect will cause an error message to come up if the user tries to
disconnect the session manually. The host must disconnect the session through
logout or something similar. Take caution when using this together with Auto Reconnect.
Terminal Emulator Settings
Select the specific emulation required by your host system and application.
TinyTERM supports four different emulations:
- IBM 3278-2 (24 x 80)
- IBM 3278-3 (32 x 80)
- IBM 3278-4 (43 x 80)
- IBM 3278-5 (27 x 132)

Some 3270 terminals have Extended Attributes as well. That switch controls
whether or not TinyTERM recognizes and uses them. It is on by default.
The LU Name field accepts text for a logical unit name. If your terminal
requires one, enter it here.
The Destructive Backspace switch determines the action of the ⌫
key. In either position, the key sends a backspace (EBCDIC 22). The
ON position causes it to erase characters while backspacing.
The Portrait Settings and Landscape Settings open additional
dialogs, documented in their own
online user guide.
Color Settings
TinyTERM offers six different color settings. Each can be changed to one of
16 available colors. If Extended Attributes are enabled, the host can also
change text color independent of these settings.
Saving the Configuration
When finished, touch the Configuration Options button to save the
new configuration and return to the main "Configuration Options" screen. Or touch
the Connect button to save the configuration and connect immediately.
Once a configuration is saved, you can launch it by selecting the name, then
touching the Connect button.
